Auyuittuq National Park, Nunavut, Canada
Auyuittuq, located on Baffin Island and ridiculously inaccessible, is one of Canada’s many national parks. What separates Auyuittuq, is the fact that it has little to no vegetation but features many fjords and glaciers. The most traditional way through the park is along Akshayuk Pass which follows the Weasel and Owl River. The one bridge that cross the river was recently washed out by heavy rain. The two most amazing attractions that make this park exceptional are Mount Thor and Mount Asgard. Mount Thor holds the record for the greatest purely vertical drop in the world at 1,250m. While Mount Asgard is two twin peaks which are almost completely flat on top. Asgard has become a haven for BASE jumpers ever since the Jame’s Bond movie: The Spy Who Loved Me featured it in their opening ski sequence found here. Since I love to hike I would love to visit Auyuittuq and hike the pass however I don’t think I’ll have to money to get up there anytime soon. Maybe one day!

The Maldives
The Maldives is the smallest and least populated nation in Asia. It is made up of 26 atolls (1,192 islands). It also has the lowest natural high point of any country in the world at just 2.4 meters above sea level. One of the largest concerns for this island nation is global warming and rising sea levels therefore they are a front runner in environmentally friendly power and other resources. The Maldives, which are situated in the India Ocean southwest of India, are a big tourist destination for their blue waters, warm temperatures and picturesque resorts. Unlike the resorts the capital city, Malé, completely covers the entire central island and there is always new land being made to accommodate for the growing city. Definitely a unique nation that is often forgotten because of it’s small size but easily can be remembered as part of an unforgettable trip!

Done for my MediaToolkit class. Transforming the Chicago skyline. Not so much surreal - I appreciate more geometric art but it is still freeform in a lot of ways.
